Have Stick Will Travel (Have Stick) was founded by Bristol Born Daniel Gallimore in 2002.
Daniel, who lost his sight at the age of 21 following a tragic criminal assault in 1996, spent a number of years coming to terms with his blindness, discovering a new way of living his life and making the most of the opportunities life has to give.
Daniel's experience of losing his sight highlighted two main areas he wanted the charity to tackle:
- Providing practical support for blind and partially sighted people in order that they too can make the most of life opportunities.
- Raising awareness of the needs of blind and partially sighted people within both local society and the business community
As a result, Daniel founded Have Stick Will Travel in 2002 and the charity has gone from strength to strength, supporting a number of local blind and partially sighted people enabling them to improve their quality of life through purchasing technology and/or blind friendly appliances, as well as educating businesses, schools and other local groups on 'blind awareness™'.
